Team signs six crucial players


A-1 CHALLENGE Ladies basketball team announced today that the club has signed a whopping five new players to aid the team in its quest for the 2010 championship.

Three-time All-Star forward Vicky Nassolo, US-based forward Ann Vogt, two-time national team shooting guard Sandra Munduru, National team power forward Angela Lokidi, 2008 All-Star point guard Mary Khisa and free agent Frederickah Erykah to multi-year contracts. Per team policy, the terms of the deals were not disclosed.

“It should be no surprise how crucial we think these six players are to our team set-up,” said head coach Hamza Nyambogo. “All six are regarded as one of the top players in the Ugandan league and will be invaluable in this club’s championship success.

Frederickah, who has been a key component of success in the high school leagues is an assetus addition to the team.
In just one season last year, Mary Khisa has shown her true potential to be a championship-caliber floor general, and is also a key component to our success. With Vogt, Lokidi and Nassolo in A-1 Challenge uniforms, I couldn’t be more confident in our chances to claim the 2010 title.”

Vogt, entering her first season in the Ugandan league, owns career averages of 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists through her earlier career games.
Lokidi who enjoyed a 2009 season break returns to league still holding the record for average boards picked in a single game.

Erykah, also joins one of the best franchise teams to ever exist in the ladies league with an average of 10 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists to her name.
